If you like weizenbier glasses you need to check out http://tinyurl.com/9rqy4d He claims to have over 4500 glasses! Franconia has lots of good and interesting beers but I'm not sure its where I'd head for weizenbier :) Most countryside breweries seem to have a wheat beer as an afterthought and given the difficulties in brewing them alongside bottom fermented beers, I would guess that many (if not most) are contract brewed. And thinking about it, a lot of the ones that come to mind have been weizenbock beers and September is not the best time to find them :) That being said, I have enjoyed the wheat beers at Mahrs, Hümmel Merkendorf and of course Zehendner (Mönchsambach). But I'm sure others can give more extensive recommendations. |
