Nonsmoking in Bamberg

Just another thought ... I may not have been paying close enough attention but I'm under the impression that smoking did not seem as popular in Germany compared to what I've seen in Ireland and the UK in the past. Again that might be a misconception on my part and I'm curious as to what you all think. It just didn't seem as overwhelming in Bamberg when I visited last year.
