Vacation apartment (Ferienwohnung) in Bamberg

Yes, the leave-the-key-at-the-front-desk thing is a big part of it. And maybe it's just the class of hotel I frequent (not fancy), but it often seems the group of people I'm with is under constant scrutiny to make sure we're not sneaking in any extra unpaid guests. Add in the typical German nosiness (you know what I mean Nick), a few disapproving looks when stumbling in late after some beers, as well as the hotels that don't have 24-hr. reception making it necessary to coordinate permission to carry the key. On the whole I prefer the unfettered, unmonitored freedom of the FeWo. It's like you're a resident instead of a visitor. As the FeWo's are IMHO a tremendous value I can't see myself staying in a Bamberg hotel again.
