I must confess to some mild amusement when I read anything about a European country making a big deal out of a particular potato cultivar, particularly one dating from the early 19th century. You want to see potatoes in infinite variety? The native peoples of Peru have been cultivating and developing potatoes for at least 8000 years, and the sheer variety is virtually unknown in the rest of the world.
