| Unusually, Drei Kronen in Strassgiech will open this Saturday (October 5) at 15.00 or 3 p.m. for the world premiere of Gänstaller Rocks mk II Steinbier. Also at the same time in Akkurat, Stockholm, and Ma Che Siete Venuti A Fa' ?, Rome. Bayerischer Anstich? Don't think so. Four malts, predominantly Pilsener and some Cara, hot rocks from the ancient caves in the Drei Kronen brewery for colo(u)r and smoke, Hersbrucker bittering hops (whether cones or pellets not known), plenty of Hallertau Spalter Select for aroma. This should make the mk II version a little less sweet than the first version last winter. Ratebeer has the first version listed as a Traditional Ale. It is, of course, a lager. Manuele and Fabio from Rome managed to get a pretaste from the Zwickel. They claimed it was the most perfectly balanced beer they ever tasted. Some of us will surely try it come Saturday. |
