Labour Day in Germany - May 1st

I don't think its diffcult to grasp, its just a pain, especially as I work for an American bank and have to deal with it daily. Surely the day of the month is the most important, that is the imformation I want to know first, I'm pretty sure i know what month it is! It goes in order of time - day, month and year - simple. I don't get why the Americans had to be different with this when the whole world do it the right way... Cue the sound of crockery being thrown at computer screens across the Atlantic... I'm just messing ;)
