Franconian Beer Message Board

Weird, Wonderful, Traditional, usw...

My buddy at the local Fränky Getränke shop asked recently what I thought of his idea --dream, I guess-- of opening up a bottle shop in some warm corner of the US selling Franconian beer. "There surely must be a gap in the market waiting to be exploited there, right?" He was disappointed to learn that *some* Franconian beer is already exported to the US, and surprised that Americans do know about German beer. More than the average German knows about Belgian, British, or (gasp!) American beer in contrast. This has naught to do with the topic, I guess, other than how fulfilling his dream could be a help to small Franconian brewers. Also, I wonder how much cola and other non-beer beverages the average Franconian brewery pumps out per year. If it weren't for that source of income...
