| Why on earth has it been 5 years since you've been to Schlammersdorf? What have you been doing all this time, during all those visits to Bamberg? I guess I'm completely confused about the kegs vs. bayerischen Anstich thing. I am skeptical of the idea that Witzgall filters their beer. A "barrel" in the US is 32 gallons(?), or ~120 liters. The standard bayerische Anstich keg I see like http://www.bamberg-guide.de/bamberg/bierundbierkultur/location.php?loc=69 is certainly not a 32 gallon, though I don't know exactly how many liters it is. I'll say that I almost never have problems with un-fresh beer at places with bayerischem Anstich. The benefits of b. Anstich far outweigh the disadvantages, in my experience. (Although I did have a crappy (beschissenes) Seidla of Mahrs (!the World's BEST beer!) at the http://www.bamberg-guide.de/bamberg/bierundbierkultur/location.php?loc=170 "Hirschaider" Keller a few days ago--not fresh.) So what exactly does Gerhard have there then? After his last post, I thought he had bottles. Which isn't bad, but the bottles age QUICKLY...be careful! Hope to make it to Stiebarlimbach tomorrow afternoon if it stays dry, but I'm "working" in Nürnberg until 12.45... |
