Have had Youngs a couple of times recently....slightly better than Doom bar. A "gold" or something was drinkable enough, but I won't be seeking it out again. OTOH, I actually enjoy a Greene King IPA now and again, IF it's been looked after well and is in good shape. It's a nice enough "boring brown bitter". I've even paid to drink it! It's unfortunate that the explanation why it's not a "proper IPA" requires a bit of history for which youth today are lacking the patience. There is a new "Watney's Pale Ale" out there in cask, brewed by Sambrook's. 4.2%, light amber, malty, drinkable. You two might seek it out. |
