| Barry, I meant, and thought it was pretty clear, that the story is that the Berliner innovation is getting the meat and everything IN the bread, like a sandwich, not the sort of meat, nor the roasting it on a spit. Maybe the Turks who moved here really, honestly never ate it in a pide bread before moving here. The story is pretty widely told in the media here. The story goes, this guy couldn't get Germans interested in coming in to eat his Döner, and saw that they were always walking by with a sandwich, on the go. And so he thought he would captivate them with a Turkish sandwich of sorts. And so he started selling them out the window. |
