| Driven twice in Germany - once driving a truck from Bath to Bucharest (carrying educational equipment for an EU project back in 1992); German border police fined me DM 50 for driving too fast on the autobahn! Second time from Krefeld to Bamberg (first visit) in the smallest Peugot car that you have ever seen. So frightening, I wouldn't like to repeat the journey; it wasn't fast enough to overtake trucks on the inside lane easily, so kept dodging in and out, watching for lunatics driving at 180 kph! Actually, most of my now friends drive like that. Totally agree Mark, so much more enjoyable pottering around on the bus/train, with a good bit of walking (which is what I plan for April/May, if I can sort out my Mobicard - see above). Of course, not adverse to the odd lift to obscure places like Spielbach now and again! |
