| I'm not convinced Barry. It's a little sensationalist for me. Like the sort of sensationalism that many beer bloggers/writers tend to come out with just to justify their perceived existence. And i dont like the idea that the smaller or more remote the brewery or the more idiosyncratic the opening hours makes it somehow more alluring. It's annoying, at best. Sorry but youre saying this is your favourite brewery, tongue in cheek, and yet you haven't yet drunk the beer? I am myself a perpetual romantic but I'm not so gullible these days. Bamberg is blessed in its brewing heritage, but invariably it's the pubs, the atmosphere or the occasion that contributes more than the golden liquid itself. Not some garage setup in the middle of nowhere. Which may or may not brew good beer. Which can be found pretty much anywhere besides. Zoigl is a prime example; I'm really not convinced that the beer would stand up as being world class were it not for the mystical aura that surrounds it and, more importantly, the place makes the beer. Which is the way it should be. Let's not lose sight of the wood for the trees. If it's good, perhaps they'll actually open a proper place where people can come and taste the beer. Until then, i say don't waste precious time in God's beer garden chasing after wild geese. |
