Cheers for the gen gents, but that looks a bit far-flung for this trip. I'm flying out of BHX at 17.55, the train from Manc is about 2 hours, and another hour or two on connecting busses is just a bit too much. I'll have to do a proper Black Country tour someday.

In the meantime, there is the Bathams Best at the Great Western in Wolverhampton. That and a range of Holdens. Or I'll stop off in bustling Brum.

Barry, have you heard that CAMRA's Stockport pub of the year is....a Sam Smith's place?
