| Please explain the vagaries of the Flaschenpfand. I've lived here nearly a decade, and it still ain't 100% clear. Is there generally no Pfand on *bottles* bought at a brewery, as opposed to at a Getränkemarkt? There is a Pfand on the case, but not the bottles? Herr Witzgall was glad that I brought a case back to the brewery today, but not so amused at the lack of bottles therein, smirking about my "generosity with brewery property." He didn't charge me for them, but I got the distinct impression that I'd made a grave faux pas. Of course, when most of the bottles end up in North America or the UK, it's kind of hard to bring them back. Hearing that only marginally improved his mood. |
