You're right about the contracts, Fred. I think the correct terms are opt-in and opt-out. That is, if you have an opt-in contract, the seller has to ask you for permission to renew it. If you have an opt-out contract, you have to ask that it be ended. Here in Europe, the opt-out are usually the rule. However, my ISP (and I think Jan uses the same one) uses the opt-out contract, but if you call and ask for a contract extension (not really necessary since you will be automatically renewed), they will give you a gift, usually a new modem. It can be quite handy. |
