Well, speaking as someone with an unlocked Handy, I have no trouble swapping SIMs between countries. I *think* the point of a locked phone is that swapping SIMs *won't* work, right? This unlocking procedure must be a way to get around this, I assume. If a company has "subsidised" the cost of a phone to a buyer by locking it to their services, and the buyer has entered into a contract agreeing not to break this lock, then isn't the buyer breaking the contract if he or she then breaks the lock? I guess I don't see why making such a contract enforceable by law should be seen as an evil thing. Just buy an unlocked one. |
