| The Pelikan combines Thai Wok food and technique with regional products. An example; "Bamberg´s HÖRNLA in the wok with farmer´s Bratwurst and vegetables". "Hörnla" is a famous variety of potatoes, expensive and is also used in many top restaurants of Germny. With an intensive, nutty flavour. The sausage is one of the best of Bamberg. But the atmosphere isn't very traditonal. Personally I would prefer the "Spezial" for food. "Kachelofen" and "Schlenkerla" are okay, if You prefer this part of the old city. A new restaurant with franconian food is "Eckerts" http://www.das-eckerts.de/ a little bit more expansive, high level atmosphere. Professional service and kitchen. The food is delicious but the service size is small. I need an appetizer and a dessert. If You have more time and maybe a car or money for a taxi I recommend the Zoiglstube in Strasstgiech from Andy and Manuela Gänstaller. 15 km from Bamberg-City. Open only from Wednesday to Friday after 4 pm.
