Even the most famous Jever just isn't what it once was -- or is it? No hop *flavour* any more, just bitterness. Extracts rather than real hops? The most beloved modern Pils-style beer ("craft" [sic] beer if you must) in the US, Victory Prima Pils, was created based on Jever as a model. It's a way *hoppier* beer, not just bracingly bitter. It's also too strong, at well over 5% abv, but is still a lovely hoppy drink. |
