I'm sure the kind of people (like us) who post about beery matters on t'internet do refer to 'cask' this, that and t'other. I said 'in general usage', i.e. by the proverbial man/woman on the streets. I can't imagine my brother-in-law, Mancunian (City supporter, of course) and life-long beer drinker or any of my other relations talking about 'cask' or even 'real' ale. They just know what they like and just go and drink it! Fortunately, Manchester has preserved its 'real ale' breweries pretty well and I suppose could be called the Bamberg of Britain (not wishing to be provocative or anything). Just heading out for a musicial outing, which will probably see me drinking rubbish all evening. Roll on Eschawo! |
