Drei Kronen, Memmelsdorf also does a "Keller Pils", if that is any consolation :) From just the name I would expect a beer in the "Pils" style as to grain and hops but unfiltered. You could call it a "Hefe-Pils" (which was the case with DK/M) but that would probably confuse people more. For US breweries, I expect it is because very few people have any idea what to expect if they saw "Kellerbier" on the label. This at least imparts some addition information. My father recently had the Tupper Keller Pils on draft at the Brickstore in Atlanta and said it was wonderful. So he bought some bottles and was disappointed because they were bland. |
