What is Kellerbier?

Good info. Thanks. What time of year was it when you were there and what day of week? I was hoping a walk to Hummer at Breitengussbach was also possible. I enjoy the walking. It's a great way to work up a thirst and take in the scenery. Each of the three summertime trips I've taken to Franconia I've wound up coming home a few pounds lighter despite drinking gallons of beer. Don't know much about Schafkopf although I once bought a deck at the bahnhof so my friend from Hamburg and I could attempt to learn it on a long train ride. Now Skat on the other hand! That is a card game I can play and enjoy but it seems Schafkopf is the one most played in Franconia and Bavaria.
