" it is best to concentrate on 2 or 3 beers and serve them well" I think this is good advice for any pub trying to offer good quality beer. I often get annoyed at some of the beer pub chains in the US (like the Yardhouse chain) that tries to keep a ridiculous number of beers on tap (at least 99). While I love the fact that we've got access to more variety nowadays it is impossible for these pubs to maintain quality with this many taps going at once and more often than not a high percentage of those 99 beers are crap. I much prefer the places that keep a low number of rotating taps of really good beer and 1 or 2 offerings on cask that they can turnover. Novare Res in Portland, Maine or Dirty Truth Beer Hall in Northampton, Mass. come to mind. |
