They still sell the beer by the crate, but you must phone in advance, on a designated day (and manage to get through!) and reserve your 3 crates for a specific day and time to pick up. There is a schedule on their website. As far as I know, the cafe In De Vrede only sells mixed 4 packs or 6 packs. On the day I plan to go, they are giving out crates of the 8, not the 12, and a friend from the Netherlands did all the phone calls. Personally, I think that Westvleteren 12 is one of the best beers in the world, but I prefer it to have at least 1 year of age on it, preferably 2 years. |
