For Nick, Herr Schoolmann, and Herr Wetzel, and those of us who were discussing Wirsing the other night (at Best of Bock), I found this listing online that says Wirsing is made from Savoy Cabbage. I was not aware that Wirsing is short for "We singing Kohl" (and I am not sure what that means). http://www.economy-point.org/w/wirsing.html And as a reminder, here is a description of Savoy Cabbage in English: http://www.recipetips.com/glossary-term/t--34293/savoy-cabbage.asp I really like Wirsing, though I must say that the Kohlrabi that I ate at Der Pelikan on Saturday reminded me of how much I also like Kohlrabi! http://www.recipetips.com/glossary-term/t--33365/kohlrabi.asp And I think we discussed Grünkohl, which is Kale in English. http://www.economy-point.org/g/green-kohl.html http://www.recipetips.com/glossary-term/t--33349/kale.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kale Guten Appetit! |
