I suppose the three I've drunk the most of at home are Aufsesser Pils, Griess Kellerbier, and Krug (Breitenlesau) dunkles Lager. The latter is my standard "dinner beer"; what I drink with dinner, as it goes so well with so many different foods. Others I drink a lot of are Huppendorfer Vollbier, Meister (dunkles) Vollbier, Held Bauernbier (dunkel), Aufsesser Zwickelbier, Göller Lager & Original (Pils), Ott Oberladara (dunkles Vollbier), and then seasonal Festbiere und Bockbiere. Sadly only available at the brewery: Witzgall Landbier. Bitter, clean, and pale. I've had good American homebrewed "pre-prohibition lager/pils" which remind me of this, I guess. I think I'll take the car up there and stock up today. And only 10€ (or 10,50€?) for 20 x 50 cl bottles...the price can't be beat! I do find oxidation to be a fairly common problem, though not with the top three I listed. Comes with the territory, I guess. I've also occasionally had infected bottles, and sometimes it's clear that the bottle just didn't get cleaned properly--they re-use bottles with a passion here, you see. And then there's diacytel... |
