REAL Monastery Breweries in Germany |

Hi everybody, Please forgive me if this is not the place to post this question; it's German beer related but not Franconian specific. Anyway, can anyone list for me all the REAL German monastery breweries? I know about Andechs and Weltenburg. Are there any others? By REAL I mean the monks themselves actually brew the beer. Does anyone know the status of Neuzeller or Alpirsbach? In Belgium there are several REAL monastery breweries; Westvleteren, Westmalle, Chimay to name a few. I realize that the breweries in Belgium are Trappist breweries and that there are no Trappist breweries in Germany but you get the idea. If I'm mistaken about Andechs and Weltenburg, by mistaken I mean that monks do not brew their beers and the beers are in fact contract brewed for those respective monastery's by a contract brewer, I would appreciate very much being corrected. Thanks for any help anyone may be able to offer. Eric |
