I'd have to disagree with you there in that it's the process that makes the difference not the location the wort is made.  Zoigl, I assume, is made using wort from an all grain mash and so it is very different than using extract because the process of making extract from liquid wort is gone.  And much like the pelletizing hops discussion in another thread here I think that the process of creating the extract does impact the quality or at least change the end result.  I have heard from some extract homebrewers that the quality of extract available these days is better than it used to be though.
