I've seen it all over the place. I honestly can't imagine a pub not filling a growler for someone. Some modern places like Steinbach and Der Vogel have slick, automated siphon filling stations. At Mahr's in the Schwemme, a very, very old little lady came in and got her very lovely painted ceramic jug filled to take home once. At Krug in Geisfeld, a guy pulled up in an older BMW 6 (or 8, I can't remember), went in and got his painted ceramic jug filled, got in his car, set the jug (open top) on the seat next to him and drove away.
