Weyermann beers @ Cafe Abseits!

You are right. 0,5 l Barley Wine is too much for one person. Weyermann doesn't use small bottles, only the 0,5 l bottle, called "Maurerflasche" ("brick layer bottle), a special kind of "Bügelverschlußflasche", from the enterprise Dr. Bauer Secundus. http://www.dr-bauer-secundus.de/flaschen-mit-buegelverschluss.phtml But we have a gentleman agreement to serve this beer at Café Abseits for a price of around 10 Euro. The high price, which should clarify the high value abreast as good belgian beers, motivates to drink a bottle together with friends. The other Weyermann beers will be cheaper, maybe starting at 4,50 Euro per bottle, which is a high price for Franconia. One reason for the high prices of the beers in bottles is that the Weyermann pilot brewery fills their bottles manually. But we have required 5 Euro for the "Benediktator" (a jubilee beer of the Franconian Beermuseum, brewed by Weyermann) and there was a demand. More about the "Weyermann Schlotfegerla": The Weyermann Schlotfegerla was developed in the year 2003 by Norbert Kalb, chief of the producton of the Weyermann Malt (the pilot brewery doesn't exist). It was an event brew for the jubilee 100 year of Weyermann Sinamar (a sirup of concentrated dark malt for colouring beers, bread, sweets ...). The brand has his name from "sine amaro", Latin for "without bitter". The name picks up the image of a chimney sweeper which is part of the Weyermann Logo. "Schlot" is another word for "Kamin" (chimney). The ending "la" is a common used ending. In standard German: "lein", a diminishment. The colour of this beer is dark like the work clothes of the chimney sweeper. The chimney sweeper is in German a symbol of good luck. You get lucky, if you meet a chimney sweeper or get a kiss or a handshake. The beer "Schlotfegerla" is a standard beer for Weyermann events and the most popular beer of their range of beers. As a smoke beer it presents Bamberg, too. The taste is different to the smoke beers from Schlenkerla and Special, because these Bamberg breweries have their own malteries. For the "Schlotfegerla" they use the product "Weyermann Rauchmalz" but also the Weyermann® Caramalzen Caramünch® Typ 2 and Carafa® Typ 2. So the Schlotfegerla has also the aroma of caramel. And they use Sinamar for colouration. The brand "Schlotfegerla" is registered in many countries (including Singapure and Australia).
