| "German pubs offer an all round eating and drinking experience (except for veggies), while the British tradition is to go into pubs to drink, with food very much an optional extra." This is the one thing I would change about British pubs if I could. Well, that and have them take out the carpeting! OTOH, I've eaten very well at British gastro-pubs, much better than the typical German Brauhaus quality. I would imagine being vegan would be much harder in Franken than being vegetarian, like Jürgen says. There are also other places to eat than just the beer places...loads of Italian restaurants, for example, which are also rather unlike "Italian" places in the US IME. When we eat out these days, it's almost *always* at an Italian place. |
