Indeed that is the best choice. You only have 3 days, stick to the "core business": Bamberg. In your situation I'd get me a Bamberg Card and a Bierschmeckertour at the Tourist office. For the tour you have to pick left bank (Ambräusianum, Schlenkerla, Klosterbräu, Greifenklau and Kaiserdom) or right bank (Fässla, Spezial, Mahr's, Keesmann, Maisel). Also do not forget the closing days, esp. Greifenklau and Keesmann that close for a day and a half. With the breweries, other great venues like Abseits and the Kellers there is no reason to venture beyond Bamberg, although the city buses will bring you to some outlying villages. I'd personally recommend visiting Zur Sonne in Bischberg. Have fun, I'll be in Berlin that same weekend, then on to Amberg, and Bamberg is the "Grand final". Jan |
