Completelty agree it sucks. I generally avoided Mahrs if the weather was nice becuase that always meant the front bar was closed and it's hardly got the best beer garden in the city. There is a marked difference in the serving of beer under pressure and on gravity. It's almost tantamount to the difference between bottled and BA served beer. Another example is Monchsambacher Lagerbier which I have had many times BA at the brewery and under pressure elsewhere and the difference is marked to my taste (why else would I travel 35 minutes on a bus or cycle to Monchsambach to have it BA than just buy in Abseits)? During my recent visit with 2 friends, we all noticed the Schlenkerla didn't taste as smoky as previous vists too (as noted in the post). Spezial Keller uses fake barrels now (they may have done for a while). Why use fake barrels? You're not kidding anyone. |
