Homebrewed cask |

Speaking of cask ale .... Last night I tapped my first ever homebrewed cask. It's a stainless steel Hereford cask (pin size - about 5 gallons). I've got some work to do on my cask conditioning skills as the beer came out too flat. But the potential for great homebrewed cask ale is huge. And I had a lot of fun setting up my stillage, spiling the cask and tapping it. I'm just gravity pouring (no beer engine). I think once I get the conditioning part down it's going to blow the doors of CO2 kegged homebrew. I'm definately going to attempt a hoppy kellerbier sometime in the spring. It's great to live in New England with home that has a nice cool cellar. |
