| Gerhard's message has reminded me of the little idea that I floated some time ago of trying to organise a kind of 'forum group visit' to Bamberg and environs. It didn't get much reaction back then but a few comments have been made since about how good it would be to have a driver so that venues outside Bamberg could be visited and also to enable visits to breweries that will only entertain groups (e.g. Heller-Brau). I have had some conversations with Mark Anderson and know that he is interested, so that's two of us! I know that we all come from different places and, especially for our US-friends, arranging visits is not so easy. So maybe we could suggest a date in 2012 to enable plenty of planning time. I'm sure our locally based correspondents could help with planning and we might be able to secure good deals on hotel/fewo prices, etc., and not have to worry about the vagaries of the VGN. Most people seem to favour late Spring or early Autumn (Fall to some of you!) for visits, so those periods would seem to be favourite. Just think, lovely day trips to the Oberpfalz, the two 'Kreuzbergs' (don't know the plural im Deutsche), etc., etc. I want to go now! I know there will be problems but let's have a positive show of hands - who might be interested? |
