Let me put it this way - Germany seems like a cheap country when you live in Ireland. However, for the first time in years, when we came back from Eschawo in June, the prices in my local Tesco/Aldi seemed comparable with Edeka. I think that this is due to 2-fold price pressure: upward in Germany, downward in Ireland, as no one has any money! I'm not sure how much asprins would be here (fortunately, I have a medical card, so don't pay) but most non-prescription medication is very expensive, much more than in UK. If you want cheap medication, go to Spain, very cheap, and you can buy things over the counter for which we would need a prescription. Sorry to hear that the weather is spoiling so many trips, specially as many of you have invested much time, money and effort - hope it improves. We're having a really bad summer all over Europe but it is improving here, with a fairly dry week on the cards but not too warm. |
