Thank you for your comments Barry,I was not actually trying to make a point merely an observation,insomuch as when I have tried the "u" beer at Mahr it has been fairly low in carbonation,and I am not totally convinced, that they do add a great deal of Co2 when filling the kegs,but rely mostly on natural carbonation,created during the aging process.but of course this is purely a supposition on my part as I am not privy to their production methods. My own personal preference is for naturally carbonated beers, but I also realize(and I am sure you do too as a former publican)that the turnover of such beers in some pubs make it very difficult for landlords to stock them without harsh levels of wastage.but this is going rather off topic!I will just repeat that I think that their is little point in comparing the fine locally produced beers of Franconia with cask conditioned ales of great Britain,as I said chalk and cheese.both great but different in their own way. |
