Forthcoming Bamberg visit

Thanks again everyone - now building up a good picture. I'm contemplating looking for a fewo in Bischberg, as my normal fewo in centre Bamberg are fully booked and alternatives at a good price seem to be pretty small (studio flats). One problem seems to be that the bus to Bischberg (906) terminates fairly early in the evening, leaving only the 938 to Gaustadt. Does anyone know what the walk from Gustadt to Bischberg is like? Another solution seems to be the call-route taxis (ALT), as shown on the VGN website, which seem to offer a service after certain routes (like 906) have terminated. Does anyone have experience or understand how this works? From my translation of the web message, seems to be that you ring them up and order and then only pay the bus fare. Is this correct? Thanks as ever.
