Homebrewing

Brewing in the kitchen is not an option for me. The stove can't handle the kettle I've got (15 gallons - 56 liters) and I'm always doing full boil all grain batches that start at at least 6.5 - 7 gallons. This weekend I did a 10 gallon batch of Maibock so it was 14 gallons at start of boil. Wind used to be a problem for me, with my old propane burner, that I somewhat rectified by brewing on the inside edge of the garage. However, I've since bought a Blichman burner that is better setup for outdoor homebrewing as it has a wind shield. This weekend I was able to brew out in the driveway on a very cold and somewhat windy day and had very few problems with wind. On top of that, as a skier that often ski's in the icy cold and windy White Mountains of New Hampshire I've got great cold weather gear that keeps me warm while I'm doing this outdoors in Jan/Feb. Still even with all that by the end of a 7 hour brewday on Saturday I was chilled to the bone and glad to be done and back inside in front of the fireplace.
