What is Kellerbier?

There's not a whole lot of point to trying to pin down a particular style of lager as "Kellerbier." There's plenty of variation among the brewers, and it's about as much about how and where it's intended to be served as how it's brewed and where it's lagered. Think of the effect a visit to a Franconian Keller (in fine weather, especially) has on your perception. If I give someone in the USA a bottle of St-Georgen's Kellerbier, that person has tasted a nice lager beer, but if that person has also been "auf'm Keller" in the Old Country, memory will color perception in a way only experience can. This is Not A Bad Thing.
